A 28-year-old Eastvale resident was arrested on suspicion of murder Thursday, June 27, after a motorist was shot in an unincorporated area of Fontana in what authorities described as a road rage incident.

Roger Albarran, 52, of Fontana, was found injured inside his Honda Civic, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said. He died at a hospital.

The shooting was reported Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the 14100 block of Arrow Highway. Investigators learned Albarran was driving north on Etiwanda Avenue when there was some sort of argument with Abel Nunez-Alejandre.

“During the road rage incident, Nunez-Alejandre fired a handgun at Albarran,” the sheriff’s press release states. “Albarran was hit by gunfire, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a parked car.”

Nunez-Alejandre was located and booked into the West Valley Detention Center, where he was being held without bail.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Gloria Huerta said Friday that no additional description of the road rage incident would be provided during the investigation. The news release did not specify how investigators found Nunez-Alejandre.
