Dr. Raleigh faces meth trafficking charges

A Roanoke Rapids man faces counts of trafficking methamphetamine following the execution of a search warrant in the area of ​​Raleigh Drive Monday evening.

Capt. Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said officers with the Regional Drug and Gang Task Force served the search warrant on Brandon Edward Reeves, 31, around 11:30 p.m.

The search resulted in the seizure of 5 ounces of methamphetamine.

Reeves was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance, and possession of related paraphernalia to drugs.

Reeves, who is currently under post-release supervision from the Commonwealth of Virginia for possession of a firearm by a felon, remained in Halifax County custody on a $75,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in District Court on June 27.

Reeves was released from prison in Virginia last August.

It's unclear how long he may have been involved in the meth trade, Hall said.
