Douglas County man expected to be sentenced for aggravated battery after abusing his partner – WSB-TV Channel 2

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. — A Douglas County man is expected to be sentenced this week after being found guilty of aggravated battery.

In May 2022, the Douglasville Police Department responded to a domestic violence call when police learned from a victim that Ryan Spratlin had hit her.

DPD officials learned earlier today that Spratlin and the victim had been involved in a violent altercation in which the victim found Spratlin alone in his apartment with another woman.

Officials say the victim told the woman to leave; that's when Spratlin grabbed the victim. They began to struggle and Spratlin allegedly pushed the woman to the ground. He then blinded the victim and picked up an electric drill, hitting her in the face.

DPD officials say the woman suffered numerous injuries, including loss of consciousness, a broken upper jaw, teeth knocked out of her mouth as well as a large cut to her lip. Police located the victim at a nearby gas station, where she called police.

When police arrived at the home where the incident occurred, they found blood stains on the floor, mattress and wall. The victim's teeth were also found on the floor near the mattress and in the bathroom, police said.

Officers returned to the home the next day to recover evidence from the home. A police officer recovered the drill and noticed evidence such as the victim's blood and hair on the drill, as well as metal pliers appearing to be the same shape as the injury suffered by the victim.

“Too often, these acts of violence remain in the shadows and victims are left to find a way forward. We salute the courage of this victim and of those who speak out about the violence they suffer. We appreciate the efforts of our law enforcement partners and encourage those who are suffering in silence to seek help,” said Douglas County Prosecutor Dalia Racine.

Spratlin was found guilty of aggravated battery and will be sentenced Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.
