Double homicide near Nolte local park: MCPD and park police launch investigation

Two 20-year-old men were fatally shot Sunday evening near Nolte Local Park in Silver Spring, according to Montgomery County police.

Officers arrived on scene in the 500 block of Thayer Avenue just before 7 p.m. and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The MCPD released the following statement Sunday evening:

At approximately 6:57 p.m., officers from the Montgomery County Police Department – ​​3rd District and Maryland – National Capital Park responded to the 500 block of Thayer Avenue for a report of a shooting.

When police arrived, they found two men in their twenties dead at the scene.

There are no suspects in custody at this time.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

A press release will be distributed as soon as further information becomes available, along with the names of those who died.
