Donora, Washington County, fire affects 3 homes

Firefighters are responding to a fire at multiple homes in Donora Wednesday afternoon. Washington County dispatchers said three homes were on fire in the 100 block of Thompson Avenue. They said the call for the fire came in at 3:54 p.m. Sky 4, Pittsburgh's only news helicopter, flew over the scene and saw smoke coming from homes. Several fire departments were on scene trying to put out the fire. A woman inside one of the burning homes told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 reporter Ava Rash that four people inside that home, including herself, were able to escape. escape. However, two animals were killed. According to her, the fire broke out in front of the house. People in the house ran out the back after trying to throw water on the flames.
