Donald Trump protests against the sentencing date agreed by his own lawyer

Donald Trump has criticized the sentencing date in his hush money case, despite his own lawyer previously agreeing with the delay.

The former president was convicted Thursday of all 34 counts of falsifying business records related to a hush money payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election.

Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, days before Republicans officially choose Trump at the Republican National Convention. As court transcripts detail, his attorney Todd Blanche requested a “mid-July” sentencing date and agreed to the July 11 date when it was proposed to the court.

But on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the date was set “conveniently for fascists” because of its proximity to the convention, which is scheduled to take place July 15-18.
