Domestic disturbance leads to burglary charges

A domestic disturbance call led to an arrest for burglary after a Bulloch County sheriff's deputy responding to the call noticed suspicious items inside the couple's home.
The items were equipment belonging to a Statesboro police officer whose home had been burglarized recently, said Capt. Todd Hutchens, Bulloch County sheriff's chief investigator.
Bulloch County Sheriff's Deputy Travis Tuenge became suspicious when he noticed the police-issued equipment and contacted Inv. Bill Black, he said. Further investigation revealed several items had been taken from a number of homes in the Greenhaven Mobile Home Park in recent weeks, he said.
The investigation, aided by sheriff's investigators Jason Long and Jared Akins, who each participated in the investigation of at least six separate burglaries and thefts at the mobile home park on Old Register Road, led to the arrest of Scott Evan Boyd, 17, Bell Road. , Brooklet, he said.
Boyd was charged with domestic violence battery following the domestic disturbance incident, as well as interfering with government property (for taking police-issued equipment), six counts of burglary and three counts of theft by taking (firearm), Hutchens. said.
Most of the property stolen from the Statesboro police officer has been recovered, along with other items stolen from other victims, he said. However, other missing items remain undiscovered, he said.
Boyd remains in Bulloch County Jail without bond, he said.
