Document: MPD investigating 2022 shooting as homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road, SE on May 10, 2022, as a homicide after a victim succumbed to his injuries.

According to MPD documents, officers responded to a report of a shooting. There, they located a man with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment as his life was in danger.

On February 7, he succumbed to his injuries.

He was identified as 40-year-old Cesar Barrera.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) ruled the cause of death to be complications of gunshot wounds and the manner of death to be homicide.

MPD is offering a reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for each homicide in the District.
