ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – An 18-year-old Odessa man was arrested late last month after his DNA linked him to the sexual assault of an ex-girlfriend last October . Omarion Knox was charged with sexual assault, a second-degree felony.

According to an Odessa Police Department report, on October 27, 2023, officers responded to a home after someone called 911 and reported that a 17-year-old family member had pushed a outcry. In an interview with the teen, investigators said she identified her alleged attacker as an ex-boyfriend, named Knox. The teen said she and Knox had broken up, but he asked to come talk, to which she agreed, but said we would only talk during the visit and nothing else.

The teen said Knox arrived at her home and entered through a window. that's when things escalated and Knox allegedly began kissing and undressing the teen. According to the young woman, she told Knox “no” several times, but he continued to undress her and eventually raped her. During an ensuing struggle, the teen screamed for help and the assault was broken up.

The family member who called 911 said they intervened during the assault and Knox apologized before fleeing through the bedroom window.

Investigators obtained DNA evidence at the scene and in late May, results showed the presence of semen belonging to Knox at the scene, an affidavit states. Knox was arrested on a warrant on May 30 and has since been released on $30,000 bail.
