Diplo sued in California for alleged distribution of revenge porn – News

statementDiplo was sued for allegedly distributing revenge porn.

In the documents consulted by Rolling stone, It is alleged that Diplo – real name Thomas Wesley Pentz – shared “pornographic images” with the plaintiff, who is seeking damages of at least $450,000 (£355,185).

The plaintiff – who remains anonymous as Jane Doe – filed the complaint on June 26 in federal court in California.

Doe claims she was 21 when she began talking and exchanging intimate images with the DJ via Snapchat in April 2016 before meeting him in person in June 2016.

According to court documents, the couple had an “on-and-off” relationship for seven years, with Doe claiming Diplo would sometimes film their sexual encounters with her consent.

However, Doe continues to state that she would ask the artist to keep the images and photos private.

Last November, the plaintiff claims someone contacted her claiming he was in possession of sexual videos and images of Doe.

“Upon information and belief,” the suit adds, “Defendant Diplo continued to disclose and/or distribute intimate images and/or videos (of Doe) from 2018 to the present.”

The lawsuit goes on to reveal that Doe filed a complaint with the New York Police Department on November 7 and that a few days later, “the NYPD issued an arrest warrant for Defendant Diplo for disseminating intimate images and/or videos depicting.”

Talk with Rolling stones, The NYPD has neither confirmed nor denied the existence of an arrest warrant for Diplo, but has confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.

“There is a pending criminal complaint for illegal distribution regarding a suspect named Thomas Pentz, who is currently under investigation by NYPD detectives,” a spokesperson told the publication.

The filing also states: “The plaintiff has suffered and will continue to suffer personal injury as a result of the disclosure and/or distribution of intimate images and/or videos depicting her genitals and face while she was engaged in sexually explicit activity.

“The immediate permanent harm she is suffering includes, but is not limited to, extreme and severe emotional distress with physical manifestations, anxiety, depression and loss of privacy.”

Recently, Diplo took to Instagram to share the following message: “Don’t believe what you read in the news.”

His statement refers to allegations that the DJ is currently under investigation for organising an illegal rave in Ibizaaccording to the Spanish media Olive press followed by a mention of the current situation with Jane Doe.

Addressing the lawsuit in his statement, Diplo said, “I did not send dirty Snapchats in 2017.”

This is the second time Diplo has been accused of sharing explicit photos without consent.

In 2020, Shelly Auguste accused the DJ of coercing her into having sex with him and of recording and sharing the encounter without her knowledge.

Diplo denies the allegations and later wins $1.2 million against the accuser in fees, damages, costs and expenses.

However, Auguste granted a restraining order against Pentz and is now suing the DJ for sexual assault, battery, defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Diplo then filed for his own protective order against Auguste, claiming she attempted to “stalk and harass” him.

Later in July 2021, another Jane Doe sued the DJ for sexual assault, a suit that was eventually dropped. Diplo has denied all allegations.
