Detroit chase after O'Hair Park shooting results in 5 arrests

DETROIT – Five people were arrested, including one who was shot in the lower leg after a shooting led to a chase in Detroit.

The incident occurred Wednesday, June 5 at 2:37 p.m. when officers from the Detroit Police Department's 8th Precient were dispatched to the area of ​​Grandville and Trojan avenues for a report of a man shooting at people at the interior of O'Hair Park.

Additional information indicated that the man involved was in a gray Jeep Cherokee and a second individual was also seen in a second Jeep Cherokee.

A search took place when officers discovered the gray Jeep which matched the description of one of the vehicles. Authorities said they tried to stop the Jeep, but a chase ensued.

Officials say a DPD officer in the area fired at least one round as the vehicle drove toward and then circled around the officer's vehicle.

The chase continued for several blocks before stopping due to a flat tire. The occupants then fled before being located and arrested.

The person who was shot in the leg was transported to Sinai Grace Hospital and is in stable condition.

Officials say they located four weapons, including an AR-style long gun and an AR-style pistol.
