Detectives investigate fatal shooting that leaves one dead, one injured

Mason Police District Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Annandale that left one juvenile dead and another injured.

On June 28 at 11:18 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at 4100 Wadsworth Court in Annandale. Upon arrival, officers located two juvenile male victims. A 16-year-old male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the lower body and a 14-year-old male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. Officers rendered aid to both victims and transported them to the hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the 14-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The 16-year-old male victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officer arrival.

Beforehand, detectives believe the victims were walking together in the area. A vehicle approached the victims and the suspects inside the vehicle began shooting at the victims. Detectives do not believe this was a random act.

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting and are asking the community to review any home surveillance footage from the area to aid in the investigation.
