Detectives arrest suspect for two weapons charges

King County: At approximately 7:30 a.m. on May 22, 2024, Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers and detectives arrested a suspect for an investigation into two weapons incidents that occurred on SR 18 and I-90.

This investigation began with a 9-1-1 call on May 13, 2024, when the caller said a woman driving a black GMC Acadia with license plate CCX1088 in Washington State pointed a gun of black fists on them and their niece twice in the eastbound SR sector. 18 between the summit of Tiger Mountain and I-90. Officers contacted the victim, took a statement and showed her a photo of the registered owner of the vehicle. The victim positively identified this person as the driver who had pointed a gun at her and the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Detectives cross-referenced the license plate in the WSP database and discovered that this same vehicle was involved in a gun-wielding case on June 30, 2023. The victim in that case called 9-1-1 to report this incident but did not request any contact by telephone. soldiers. This incident occurred on eastbound I-90 exiting onto SR 18 just after 5:00 p.m. Detectives contacted this victim; they provided a statement and positively identified the same suspect from a photo montage. They reported that this vehicle blocked them from taking the exit onto SR 18. They then rolled down their window to speak to the suspect. That's when the driver of the vehicle fired a round into the chamber while pointing his gun at them.

Detectives were able to determine a work location for the suspect as well as a typical time and location of travel.

On May 22, 2024, surveillance was established in the routine area and during travel, with marked units assisting in making a traffic stop and arrest if located. Just before 7:30 a.m., the suspect vehicle was located traveling westbound on I-90 from SR 18 and a traffic stop was initiated westbound on I-90, just west of Preston, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as Nicole Howland, 31, last resident of Federal Way, Washington. Howland was later booked into the King County Jail on two counts of Assault 2.sd Diploma and crime of harassment.

Detectives requested and received a search warrant for the vehicle in which the handgun below was found and entered into evidence.
