Destiny 2 Exotic Weapon Tier List

What is your favorite exotic? Image via Bungie

With so many exotic weapons in Destiny 2we've split them into their own lists based on where they belong:Primary (Kinetic weapons, Stasis and Strand), Energy (Arc, Solar and Void Weapons), and Heavy (all powerful weapons).

Within each list, we have divided them into four levels, as differentiated below:

  • Level S: An essential weapon, extremely powerful and complete or incredibly useful in certain scenarios. Generally consistent in several activities and powerful in FateIt's the end of the game.
  • Level A: Commonly seen exotics that excel in one particular area (PvP, pure boss damage, added clear) but aren't quite up to the task of being used in multiple activities.
  • Level B: Niche Exotics that require particular builds or playstyles to function as an effective weapon, or that aren't powerful enough to justify their longer acquisition methods.
  • Level C: Underpowered or outdated Exotics that need Bungie's help to access higher levels. There is almost always a better substitute.

We'll also take an in-depth look at our S-tier picks so you know why we put them at the top. It's important to know that you should never let a tier list dictate your choice of exotic weapons. You can only use one exotic weapon at a time; If you enjoy one of our C-tier Exotics or have developed a version based on it, don't let us stop you!

Here is our updated Exotic Weapon Tier List for Destiny 2.

  • Last warning (Handgun with strand)
    • Incredibly powerful sidearm with tracking bullets and high burst damage. The catalyst further increases this damage.
  • Perfected epidemic (Kinetic Pulse Rifle)
    • Stacking bursts increases damage dealt, which is ideal for long damage phases against bosses. The Nanite Swarm allows you to manage small groups of adds.
  • Crossbow (Kinetic Linear Fusion Rifle)
    • Very powerful linear fusion, ideal for eliminating enemies with any shield. The intrinsic anti-barrier makes it very handy for end-game activities like Grandmaster Nightfalls.
  • Monte Carlo (Kinetic automatic rifle)
