Destiny 2 Better Devils God Roll – PvP and PvE (The Final Form)

The Better Devils hand cannon is back in Destiny 2, baby. One of the first weapons I fell in love with, and something that has sadly been missing for a while, returns in The Final Shape, and it's better than ever.

The new version of Better Devils is a Strand weapon, an adaptive frame and a 140 RPM beast, as well as an easily controllable recoil pattern, with little deviation in either direction as standard.

How to get better devils

To get your hands on Better Devils, all you have to do is head to the Crucible. It can be obtained as a random reward, win or lose. You can also purchase random rolls of these for a Crucible Engram from Shaxx at the Tower. This weapon can be upgraded, so once you get the throw you like, you can get to work upgrading it to be the best version possible.

Pool of possible benefits

Better Devils can have the following benefits:

  • Advantage 1: Aerial Trigger, Demolisher, Lighted Action, Moving Target, Perfect Float, Perpetual Motion, Pugilist, Rangefinder, Reconstruction, Rapid Strike, Slickdraw, Slice
  • Advantage 2: Adrenaline Junkie, Deconstruct, Elemental Capacitor, Explosive Payload, Frenzy, Gutshot Straight, Hatchling, Kill Clip, One For All, Opening Shot, Swashbuckler, Zen Moment.
  • Original character
    • A moment of calm – Grants increased reload speed and maneuverability outside of combat. Swords gain faster movement speed.
    • Focus on the nadir – Sustained fire increases accuracy and range. Increases lunge distance for swords and projectile speed for throwers.

The highlight here is Nadir Focus. You should take it no matter what you're doing, as the increased accuracy and range are extremely useful.

PvE Better Devils God Scroll

The god of the strand

The best PvE perks for a shutter-focused build on Better Devils are:

  • Barrel – Fluted or small gauge, or hammer forged for maximum reach
  • Review – Flared Magwell – increased stability and improved reload speed.
  • Advantage 1 – Slice – Casting your class ability allows this weapon to slice targets on a hit for a brief duration, up to a maximum number of targets.
  • Advantage 2 – Hatchling – Precision finishing blows or rapid defeat of targets with this weapon causes a Threadling to appear at the target's location. Improves handling.
  • Masterpiece – Your choice to counter anything you think needs a little push.

There are a lot of good hand cannons in Destiny 2 right now, and that's before we even get into the exotics. This can definitely fill a spot for Stand fans who need something to back them up. The Slice and Hatchling combo is excellent and will perfectly support any Strand build across Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans.

The pomegranate addict

  • Barrel – Fluted or small gauge, or hammer forged for maximum reach
  • Review – Flared Magwell – increased stability and improved reload speed.
  • Advantage 1 – Demolisher – Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability recharges this weapon from reserves.
  • Advantage 2 – Adrenaline Junkie – This weapon gains increased damage and handling from finishing hits with grenades or this weapon.
  • Masterpiece – Your choice to counter anything you think needs a little push.

This will allow the grenades' energy to flow, while giving you increased damage and easy reloading just for using them. The introduction of new and powerful Prismatic Grenades really makes me feel like you can't get enough grenade energy regeneration in some builds at the moment.

Better Devils PvP God Roll

Honestly, these aren't the best for PvP, but it really depends on the weapon rather than the perk. Chances are you'll be outgunned by something with a faster rate of fire, and flinching will cause you to lose your aim with that.

  • Barrel – Fluted barrel
  • Review – Precise turns
  • Advantage 1 – Moving Target – Increased movement speed and target acquisition when moving while aiming down sights.
  • Advantage 2 – Explosive Payload – Projectiles create an area of effect detonation on impact. Improves reloading.
  • Masterpiece – Range or reload

Movement in Crucible is constant, so Moving Target will give you a very useful buff just for playing. The explosive payload will result in some of your damage dealt no longer being reduced by range-based mitigation, which is a big help when setting up shootouts across the map.

There are of course great variations you can perform. Perpetual movement and zen moment are a solid combo. Frankly, there are enough good perks on this thing that you can get some sort of build that will meet your needs quite easily by just spending a few Crucible Engrams.
