Derelict sites in Enniscorthy identified for compulsory purchase as council tackles housing shortage

As it continues its efforts to alleviate the county's housing crisis, Wexford County Council (WCC) has provided details of its work to bring derelict properties back onto the market. At the Enniscorthy Municipal District (RMD) May meeting, Senior Executive Planner Tom Banville explained how a €6.5 million project is identifying residential units that can be restored in the county's four major towns .

Initially, a total of 169 properties were included on the list of approved schemes under the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF), including 49 in Enniscorthy. 13 of the derelict sites in Enniscorthy were subsequently resolved following communication with the owners.
