Deputy shoots teen at large party on Airtex Boulevard

About 100 people were reportedly seen on the property, some with weapons, deputies said.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A Harris County sheriff's deputy shot and killed a teenager after a large party got out of control on the North Side Tuesday night, investigators said.

Deputies said an 18-year-old who was shot is expected to survive.

It happened shortly before 11 p.m. on West Airtex Boulevard near Ella Boulevard.

Investigators said it all started when nearby residents reported hearing gunshots at this apartment complex across the street.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said they received a call shortly before 11 p.m. with someone reporting a loud party.

When deputies arrived, they said they heard gunshots and ran toward the noise. They then saw an 18-year-old with a gun. That's when a deputy shot and grabbed him.

About 100 people were reportedly seen on the property, some with weapons, deputies said.

“Many of the people involved in this rally, if you will, were seen jumping fences. We don't think they were supposed to be here. They just found this place. There may be some living here, but at this point we don’t think they were supposed to be here,” said HCSO Maj. John Nanny.

As for the 18-year-old, the police were able to treat him on the spot before he was transported to hospital.
