Denton PD: Veteran stabbed on Memorial Day

DENTON, Texas — Three suspects have been charged after allegedly stabbing a 62-year-old military veteran during a Memorial Day robbery, police said.

The victim was working at a convenience store in the 4000 block of Teasley Lane in Denton County when two masked suspects entered and demanded money, police said. One of them allegedly stabbed the victim several times in the stomach during the robbery, then the two suspects stole cash, a can of beer and vaping products before fleeing in a car driven by the third suspect.

The victim was taken to hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening, according to police.

Officers found the suspect vehicle Wednesday morning, police said, which led them to identify the three suspects: 20-year-old Ryan Alvarez of Argyle, 20-year-old Justin Bustillos of Denton and the driver, Edgar Cuevas of Krum, 20 years old. Bustillos is charged by police. for stabbing the victim. Cuevas was also allegedly seen obstructing the vehicle's license plate before the two other suspects entered the store.

All three suspects are being held in the Denton City Jail, according to police, and no bond has been set at this time.
