Delano suspect arrested and charged with homicide

The Tulare Police Department said it has arrested two suspects in the alleged murder of a 48-year-old man Wednesday, April 29, in Tulare. One of the suspects is a Delano resident.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday, officers responded to the 700 block of South R Street in Tulare regarding “suspicious circumstances.” Once they arrived, two people in the driveway were contacted.

One of the men appeared nervous, officers said, and they saw what appeared to be blood on the ground and on the suspects' clothing. A police officer attempted to speak to someone at the home and eventually entered the home to check for anyone injured.

Once inside, the officer found a person dead inside, officials said.

Both men were immediately arrested for further investigation. Tulare Police detectives took over the investigation.

Both men were taken to the Tulare Police Department, booked and questioned.

One of the suspects was identified as Steven Elizondo, 26, of Delano. The other was identified as Sakuma Lockhard, 48, of Tulare.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dan Scott at (559) 685-2300 (ext. 2153) or Sgt. Eddie Hinojosa at (559) 684-4390.
