Defendant sentenced to six months in prison after shooting in the air

On June 27, Washington Superior Court Judge Erik Christian sentenced a shooting defendant to six months in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

Anthony Calvin, 47, pleaded guilty to endangerment with a firearm. He was initially charged with endangerment with a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, carrying a pistol without a license outside a home or business and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance. According to court documents, he fired a shot into the air on the unit block of Quincy Place on the northwest side.

“Mr. Calvin was at home and his friend gave him a gun that he thought was fake,” said Calvin's attorney, Joseph Fay. “He made a very, very bad decision in firing a gunshot. in the air.” .

The prosecution believes Calvin was under the influence of narcotics during the incident as he had drugs in his possession.

After his release, Calvin will have to register as a firearms offender.
