Deceased man identified in 13th and Western Ave. homicide in Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The deceased man has been identified in the 13th and Western homicide in Topeka that occurred on Monday night.

According to the Topeka Police Department, the deceased has been identified as Steven R. Warden, 43, of Topeka, Kan.

TPD said at around 9:30 pm on Monday, June 24, officers responded to a reported shooting at 13th and Western Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. This person was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing.

This incident is Topeka Police Department's 8th homicide investigation of 2024.
