Deadly shooting in downtown Greenville

Another person has been charged and new details have been released after a deadly shooting in downtown Greenville Sunday morning. Brian Murray, 28, is charged with murder in the shooting death of William Shamari Slade, 27, according to police. Police say around 1 a.m. Sunday, two people got into a verbal fight on Falls Park Drive, between South Main and Rhett streets. Police said that during the altercation, Murray shot Slade in the chest. They said the two knew each other. Slade later died in hospital. Officers said Murray left the scene and did not stop when officers attempted to arrest him. They said there was a brief chase that ended at East Washington Street and Laurens Road. Murray is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and failure to stop for blue lights. Police also announced the arrest of Jhiytavious Brown for aggravated breach of the peace. Brown's arrest warrant said he fired a gun during the argument between Murray and Slade. The warrant said a projectile entered the window of a RiverPlace apartment. The incident was captured on surveillance and cellphone video, leading to the charge.
