Deadly Neighbor Dispute in Horsham, Pennsylvania – NBC10 Philadelphia

A Montgomery County barbershop owner was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher when authorities say he shot a man who lived above the store.

Maurice Byrd was charged over the weekend with the murder of Stephen Strassburg, 37, outside the Razor Reese Salon and Spa on North York Road in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

Hatboro police officers found Strasburg suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot next to the barbershop around 6 p.m., said a joint news release from Montgomery County Prosecutor Kevin Steele and the county police chief. Hatboro, Mark Ruegg. Strasburg died shortly afterwards in hospital.

“A joint homicide investigation by Montgomery County detectives and Hatboro police revealed that there was an ongoing dispute between the defendant and the victim, who lived above Razor Reese, who belongs to Byrd,” the prosecutor’s office and police said. “The defendant had called 911 at 5:45 p.m. to say he was being verbally abused by Strasburg. While on the phone, the 911 dispatcher heard five gunshots, then a pause, followed by two gunshots additional.”

“Strasburg did not have a weapon at the time of the shooting,” authorities said.

Investigators said they found evidence that seven shots were fired. They also recovered a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun registered to Byrd, authorities said.

Byrd was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder and possession of a weapon. He remained jailed without bail, according to court records, which do not list an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
