DCSO: 6 people arrested after investigation for drug trafficking

Geary Thomas, 63, of Owensboro, and 5 others were arrested and charged with trafficking and possession of methamphetamines and marijuana Monday morning after the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.

At 8 a.m., DCSO reported discovering a drug trafficking operation in progress, including methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana (spice), prescription pills, plastic bags, pipes glassware, scales and various types of drug paraphernalia located throughout the home. All evidence has been seized.

Six suspects were also at the residence during the execution. These suspects and their charges are below.

DCSO reports this is the second time the home in the 1600 block of West 3rd Street has been the subject of a search warrant. In September 2023, the Special Investigations Unit conducted a drug trafficking investigation involving Thomas, which resulted in the SIU, Patrol, K9 and other agencies executing a search warrant .

During the operation, 12 suspects were arrested on various charges, including outstanding arrest warrants and drug offenses, after allegedly trafficking methamphetamine and other drugs.

The suspects and their charges are as follows:

Geary L. Thomas, 63, of Owensboro:

• Trafficking in controlled substances, 1st degree, 2nd offense or more
• Possession of controlled substances, 1st degree, 2nd offense (methamphetamine)
• Possession of synthetic drugs 1st offense
• Illegal possession of a legendary drug
• Possession of marijuana
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Own

David M. Barr, 47, of Owensboro:

• Trafficking in controlled substances, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
• Possession of marijuana
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Own

Jacob M. Mattingly, 20 years old:

• Possession of controlled substances, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Own

Anna F. Barrows, 31, of Owensboro:

• Possession of controlled substances, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Own

Phillip E. Royal, 51, of Owensboro:

• Possession of controlled substances, 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
• Possession of marijuana
• Drug Paraphernalia – Buy/Own
