DCSO: 3 people arrested for drug trafficking operation on West Legion Boulevard

Three people are facing multiple charges following an investigation into a drug trafficking operation at a residence on West Legion Boulevard, according to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office.

According to a release, DCSO Special Investigations Unit (SIU) detectives served a search warrant Monday as part of the investigation.

“The residence was targeted after DCSO received numerous complaints of suspected drug-related activity occurring there,” the release states. “During the search of the residence, several items of evidence were located and seized, including methamphetamine, marijuana, hydrocodone pills, digital scales, plastic bags used to distribute narcotics, U.S. currency, several glass pipes containing drug residue, and other types of drug paraphernalia.

Robert R. McKnight, 60, James R. McKnight, 27, and Candace L. Piper, 39, all of the 200 block of West Legion Boulevard, were arrested during the operation. In addition to several drug offenses, Robert and James McKnight each had multiple warrants, including a parole violation, active since February 2022, according to DCSO. All three suspects were taken to the Daviess County Detention Center.

Robert R. McKnight was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – 1st diploma, 2sd or a more serious offense (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – 1st diploma, 1st offense
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia (purchase/possess)
  • Subscription warrants
  • Contempt of court, defamation, resistance to order
  • Failure to Appear (Daviess District Court)
  • Failure to Appear (Daviess Circuit Court)
  • Failure to Appear (Henderson District Court)

James R. McKnight was charged with:

  • Marijuana trafficking (2sd or a more serious offense) (firearm enhancement)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – 1st degree, 1st offense (methamphetamine) (firearm enhancement)
  • Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
  • Drug paraphernalia (purchase/possess)
  • Subscription warrants
  • Parole Violation Warrant
  • Contempt of court, defamation, resistance to order
  • Failure to Appear (Daviess District Court)
  • Failure to Appear (Daviess District Court)
  • Failure to Appear (Daviess Circuit Court)

Candace L. Piper was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – 1st diploma, 1st offense (methamphetamine)
  • Possession of a controlled substance – 1st diploma, 1st offense
  • Illegal possession of a legendary drug
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia (purchase/possess)
