Daniel Jones gun turns heads with striking offseason appearance at Giants practice

The New York Giants have revamped their offense this offseason. The addition of Malik Nabers and Devin Singletary could help the Giants have a more cohesive offense in 2024. Tuesday was the first time the team saw Malik Nabers and Darius Slayton practice together.

Darius Slayton was back in practice after his absence because he wants a revised contract or a completely new deal with the team. Slayton is seeking a raise over his $2.5 million base salary plus a $2.6 million roster bonus. He signed a two-year, $12 million contract in March 2023.

Earlier this month, Slayton spoke at a charity event and told reporters he hoped for “a resolution here soon” as his agent and general manager Joe Schoen continued negotiations.

Slayton has every right to want a new deal. The Giants forced him to take a pay cut before the 2022 season and he responded with two of his best seasons, reestablishing his chemistry with quarterback Daniel Jones. Slayton led the Giants in receiving yards in four of his first five seasons, so it's reasonable to expect some recognition for that production.

Darius Slayton should be the second wide receiver on the depth chart in 2024, behind rookie Malik Nabers. Wan'Dale Robinson and Jalin Hyatt should be three and four wide receivers, respectively.

The Giants drafted Slayton in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2023, Slayton recorded 50 catches for 770 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

The first Giants team featured on new show Hard Knocks

Earlier this month, the New York Giants were announced as the inaugural team for a new Hard Knocks program.

The new show, titled Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants, will cover the 2024 offseason for New York. We believe the program will highlight the NFL free agency period, the pre-draft process and the 2024 NFL Draft itself.

One possible scenario could be the acquisition of superstar passer Brian Burns via a trade with the Carolina Panthers. It would be fascinating to get some insight into how NFL teams negotiate trades with each other or how they discuss contract negotiations with a player new to the team.

The Giants are preparing for their 100th season in the NFL, so it's nice to see the league pay them a special tribute. The five-part series premieres on HBO on July 2 at 9 p.m. ET.

New York Giants 2024 Schedule Preview

The New York Giants face a tough schedule in 2024. They play in a competitive division and have drawn arguably the best football division in the AFC North to play round robin play.

NFL schedule makers have been kind to the Giants in their 100th season. The league gave them a good lineup of primetime games and a handful of other nationally televised games.

  • Week 4 – Thursday Night Football – vs. Dallas Cowboys
  • Week 6 – Sunday Night Football – vs. Cincinnati Bengals
  • Week 8 – Monday Night Football – at Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Week 10 – Germany – at Carolina Panthers
  • Week 13 – Thanksgiving – at Dallas Cowboys

New York has a Week 11 bye after its trip to Munich.

The Giants face an uphill battle to make the playoffs in 2024, but they have a chance thanks to the addition of firepower on both sides of the football.
