Dangerous Washington Football Weapon Identified as Star of 2024

Spring football is over. The transfer portal is closed. The calendar says June. Do you know what this means? College football is almost here. It's now been five months since Michigan beat Washington in the national championship game in Houston, and we've made it through the toughest part of the offseason. We're well past the halfway mark and now there's nothing but enthusiasm to get us to the finish line. We're less than three months away from the start of the college football season and Washington football is ready. Huskies fans can't wait to see their team take the field for the first time.

The 2024 college football season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons in a long time, and that's because of all the changes coming to the game in 2024. Let's start with the expanded College Football Playoff.

It will be interesting to see how the first year of the new 12-team College Football Playoff plays out. The era of the four-team playoff is over, and having eight more teams participate will make a huge difference.

First of all, college football fans can breathe a little easier during the regular season. There's no worse feeling as a fan than seeing your team lose a huge game in the first few weeks of the season, before conference play even begins. In the era of the four-team playoff, that's as demoralizing as it gets. You know that one more loss is the nail in the coffin, and even with one loss (or in Florida State's case, zero), there's no guarantee you'll make it. Now, feeding five teams that go 10-2 should be pretty safe, and even some teams at 9-3 will probably be able to pull that off.

The other big change is more football and a longer season. The College Football Playoff Committee recently released the 2024 playoff schedule, and it's going to be an exciting month. Instead of three total playoff games played in the span of a week, we'll see 11 games spread out over a month. This is going to be a lot of fun.

Another major change in the world of college football this year will be new conferences. The Pac-12 disappeared as everyone except Oregon State and Washington State found a new home. USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington are now part of the Big Ten, Cal and Stanford have joined the ACC, and Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah are part of the Big 12.

The Big 12 lost two teams, however, as Oklahoma and Texas moved to the SEC.

Overall, big changes are coming to college football and it should make for an exciting season. Things are going to be different, and not everyone is a fan of the new changes, but there will be more football and more good matchups. It's a plus.

Washington Football Enters the Jedd Fisch Era

The Washington Football Team is coming off one of the best seasons in its history. This was the last season the Huskies and nine other schools were part of the Pac-12 Conference, and the last football season with all the teams together did not disappoint. Washington and Oregon showcased the talent in the conference and both teams played two excellent games during the season. The Huskies ended up getting the better of the Ducks in both matchups, which helped them advance to the national title game.

It was a great season for the Huskies, but Michigan was just too much for the Huskies to handle in the national title game. The Wolverines jumped out to a big lead early, and even though Washington started playing much better defense, their offense was never able to do anything against Michigan's top defense. The Wolverines scored 14 points in the first quarter and the Huskies only scored 13 for the entire game. Michigan won 34-13.

Washington had a great season, but their offseason didn't go so well. The Huskies are losing most of their production this season and they also lost their head coach. Nick Saban has decided to retire after this season and Kalen DeBoer is now the head coach of the Alabama football team. The Huskies have made a lot of progress toward getting closer to the top of the college football world, and it appears much of that progress is now lost.

The good news for Washington football is that they made a great hire to replace Kalen DeBoer. Jedd Fisch is the new head coach of the Huskies, and he has done a tremendous job turning Arizona around quickly. He had a good offseason, bringing people to Washington in the transfer portal, and many of his Wildcats joined the team. He also lost some players to the portal, but that's expected after a head coach leaves. There wasn't much damage done during the spring window, but the Huskies will still need a lot of players to step up next season after losing so much talent to the pros. Here's a Washington player poised for a breakout season.

The Washington Football Team will need a new star to emerge at the wide receiver position as Rome Odunze is now in the NFL. One player who could pick up some of the slack is Denzel Boston. Boston has played two seasons for the Huskies so far and has remained quiet. He has only seven receptions in his career for a total of 66 yards and no touchdowns.

Denzel Boston has been quiet in his Washington football career thus far, but this season will be a great opportunity for him to have a breakout year. First of all, it certainly hurts that the Huskies lost Michael Penix Jr. to the NFL, but having Will Rogers in the transfer portal was huge. Washington has a good QB. Second, Boston is going to be on the field a lot. He waited his turn and worked his way up the ranks, and he should be a starter this season.

The recipe is there for Denzel Boston to have a big season. Many people expect the Huskies to take a step back, but they have a good new head coach, and if they have another special WR-QB duo, they may surprise some people. Denzel Boston could help make that happen.
