Dallas Cowboys Told to Use Newly Released Offensive Weapon

The Dallas Cowboys have had a relatively quiet NFL offseason thus far. Although most of the moves have been made and teams are ready to start training camp, Jerry Jones and company might still be interested in improving the roster.

Heading into what should be a massive 2024 season with major implications, the Cowboys need to be aggressive if something that fills a need is available.

One of the team's biggest needs right now might be adding another weapon in star quarterback Dak Prescott. CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert are the first three names on the Cowboys wide receiver depth chart. Another wide receiver could be added to the competition.

An option that the Dallas Cowboys could consider was recently made available.

Dallas Cowboys Told to Use Newly Released Offensive Weapon

SportDFW, a website on FanSided that covers all Dallas sports, suggested that the Cowboys should consider potentially signing Denzel Mims. He was recently released by the Pittsburgh Steelers and is a free agent.

Mims is certainly an interesting player. However, he was never able to latch on to a team at the NFL level.

Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing over 200 pounds, Mims has always had insane physical abilities. He is quick, can go up and recover jump shots and can play with the ball in his hands. Unfortunately, he lacks other areas necessary to be a good NFL player.

That's not to say he hasn't improved in those areas. But the fact that the Steelers recently cut him seems to suggest that he still hasn't figured out how to maximize his full potential.

Throughout his NFL career, Mims played in a total of 30 games. He finished with 42 receptions for 676 yards. Mims has yet to record a touchdown in the regular season.

Signing Mims wouldn't be a bad idea. Bringing him to training camp and seeing if they can squeeze some of his potential makes sense. He's unlikely to make the 53-man roster for the regular season, but he could be worth a flight to the Dallas Cowboys.
