DA says there is 'no probable cause' in fatal Flat Rock apartment shooting

After a Maryland man was shot to death April 6 in Flat Rock, Henderson County Prosecutor Andrew Murray ruled there was no probable cause to file criminal charges in connection with the death.

On April 6, the Henderson County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit responded to a reported shooting in the Flat Rock community, south of Hendersonville, according to a previous social media post from the Sheriff's Office.

“The parties involved were immediately identified and there is no threat to the public,” Stephanie Brackett, a spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said in a news release.

The sheriff's office said the initial investigation identified a dead man, Jonathan Durell Solomon, 38, of Baltimore.

Although the sheriff's office has not released more information about what happened, Solomon's death certificate states that he suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and died in the courtyard of an apartment complex on Greenville Highway.

Solomon was fleeing an altercation and was shot around 12:42 a.m., according to the report. He died around 1:10 a.m.
