Cyclist killed in traffic collision near CSULB identified

LONG BEACH, Calif. — A 42-year-old man riding a bicycle who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Long Beach was identified Saturday.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Keith Moore.

Around 5:05 a.m. Friday, police responded to the intersection of 7th Street and Campus Drive for a report of a traffic collision. When police arrived, they found an unconscious man on the sidewalk on 7th Street.

Paramedics responded and determined the man was dead at the scene, Long Beach police said.

According to preliminary investigation results, the cyclist was traveling eastbound on 7th Street when a car came from behind and struck him.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. At that time, police said speed, distracted driving or impaired driving were not considered factors in the crash.
