Customs set to identify private planes not properly imported into Nigeria

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has launched a comprehensive verification exercise targeting private aircraft operating in the country.

This initiative, detailed in a press release signed by the management of the NCS and published on the official website of the Service, aims to identify private planes imported irregularly without the necessary documents.

The NCS's objective with this exercise is to ensure strict compliance with import protocols and optimize revenue collection.

By identifying and addressing undocumented aircraft, the NCS seeks to improve regulatory compliance within the aviation sector.

The statement stressed that this verification exercise is crucial to maintaining the integrity of Nigeria's airspace. It aims to streamline the import process, thereby improving operational efficiency.

“The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) announces verification exercise of private aircraft operating in Nigeria.

“This exercise aims to identify private aircraft inappropriately imported without documents, thereby ensuring proper imports and maximum revenue collection,” » the statement read in part.

The NCS leadership highlights the importance of this initiative to ensure that all private aircraft comply with national regulations, thereby safeguarding aviation industry standards and the country's economic interests.

Furthermore, the statement revealed that the private aircraft verification exercise in Nigeria is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, July 19, 2024.

The exercise will take place at the Department of Tariffs and Trade Hall, located at the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters, No. 4 Abidjan Street, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja.

The verification process will be carried out daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Offering more information on the private jet verification exercise in Nigeria, the statement asked all participants to bring the following documents:

  • Aircraft registration certificate
  • Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Flight Operations Compliance Certificate
  • NCAA Certificate of Maintenance Compliance
  • NCAA permit for non-commercial flights
  • Temporary import permit (if applicable)

“Interested parties must bring the following documents:

  • Aircraft registration certificate
  • NCAA Flight Operations Certificate of Compliance
  • NCAA Certificate of Maintenance Compliance
  • NCAA permit for non-commercial flights
  • Temporary import permit (if applicable) »
