Culver City police report highlights week of arrests and community engagement

Officers participate in National Police Week and make drug and gun arrests

The Culver City Police Department was active during the week of May 15-20, making several notable arrests and participating in community events. Here is a summary of their recent activities:

Tuesday May 14: In the early morning hours, officers conducted a traffic stop at Washington Blvd and Cattaraugus Ave. During the check, they observed a handgun on the floor. The driver was arrested and the loaded firearm was recovered. The driver was arrested for illegal possession of a loaded firearm.

Wednesday May 15: At 10:30 a.m., an assault with a deadly weapon occurred in the 10900 block of Jefferson Boulevard. The victim was attacked with a metal pole. Officers located and arrested the suspect, who was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon.

Later that evening, officers received a report of a stolen vehicle on Sepulveda Blvd and Green Valley Circle. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for car theft.

Friday May 17: An officer conducted a traffic stop at Slauson and Hannum. The driver, on probation for theft, was the subject of a felony arrest warrant. He was found in possession of fentanyl and Xanax bars intended for sale and was arrested for sale of a controlled substance.

Saturday May 18: Early in the morning, officers conducted a traffic stop at Venice and Sepulveda Boulevard. The driver was found in possession of methamphetamine and arrested for sale of a controlled substance.

Later that evening, officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle at Slauson and Hannum. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for car theft. Another traffic stop at La Cienega and Blackwelder Ave revealed the driver, who was on probation, was in possession of methamphetamine, a digital scale and other items indicating drug sales. The suspect was arrested for sale of a controlled substance.

Sunday May 19: Officers received a report of a stolen vehicle at Slauson and Hannum. The vehicle was located and the driver was arrested for car theft.

On Saturday, training exercises took place on the Metropolitan Platform, involving multiple first responders practicing coordinated responses to critical incidents.

A community member shared a letter of appreciation for the parking enforcement team, highlighting their exceptional service. The feedback was shared with the team and the compliment was greatly appreciated.

Culver City police also participated in the California State and National Peace Officers' memorial ceremonies. National Police Week provides honor, remembrance and peer support, allowing law enforcement, survivors and citizens to come together and pay tribute to those who gave their lives in the line of duty .
