Crystal Palace star identified as option for club in overhaul – Feeling he's a guaranteed success

Crystal Palace striker Jean Philippe Mateta is a potential target for Borussia Dortmund this summer as they plan an overhaul of their forward line.

That's according to SportBILD, who claim Mateta's superb form at the end of the season has put the Crystal Palace star on the radar of Champions League finalists.

They explain that Dortmund want to strengthen their attack for next season and have Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy on their roster after his own impressive Bundesliga campaign.

He is the preferred candidate at the moment and potentially available for as little as €18 million thanks to a release clause in his current contract.

He would arrive as part of a front-row overhaul, with Youssoufa Moukoko leaving, Sébastien Haller also free to leave and the German club also welcoming offers for Niclas Füllkrug if they are at the right price.

That's because Dortmund want a different type of striker at the club, someone who can guarantee 20 goals per season, and they view the Crystal Palace man as one of those players.

He had a superb end to the season under Oliver Glasner, finishing the season with 16 goals and five assists in 35 games for Crystal Palace and it appears this has piqued Dortmund's interest.

The big problem could be his price since his current contract at Crystal Palace runs until 2026 and he probably wouldn't be cheaper than Guirassy, who has this clause in his contract that he can take advantage of.

It is believed, however, that he could be available for €20 million, and Dortmund could have a larger transfer budget than usual this summer to accommodate that anyway.

For now, it appears they are only looking at him, and with Napoli also credited with interest in recent weeks, it looks like it could be a busy summer for the Frenchman.
