Crypto ATM installations surge worldwide, near all-time high – DL News

  • Cryptocurrency ATM installations are on the rise.
  • Nearly 6,000 cryptocurrency ATMs have been added over the past 11 months.

The number of crypto ATMs available worldwide has reached 38,279, approaching the record high of 39,541 from December 2022, according to data from Coin ATM Radar.

Nearly 6,000 cryptocurrency ATMs have been added in the past 11 months as the cryptocurrency market has rebounded; they are available in 72 countries and manufactured by 43 different companies.

The number of crypto ATMs plummeted during the bear market from late 2022 to July 2023, when there were fewer than 33,000 such machines available to handle crypto transactions.

So far this year, 2,564 crypto ATMs have been added, after losing 2,861 machines in 2023.

The United States has the most crypto ATMs, with 31,916. Canada comes second with 3,024 and Australia third with 1,107.

Australia could surpass Europe's 1,584 ATMs if installations continue to expand, Cointelegraph reported, as the country surpassed 1,000 sites in April.

El Salvador, which in 2021 became the first country to make Bitcoin legal tender, has 215 locations.

The country's president, Nayib Bukele, is also moving forward with a Bitcoin bank project and other proposals, DL News reported.

Bitcoin is by far the most widely accepted cryptocurrency at ATMs worldwide and is available on almost every machine. Ethereum and Litecoin are also well represented.
