Police had been searching for him since a traffic stop on Main Street in which Ince allegedly struck Poughkeepsie cops as he tried to flee. a traffic stop on May 12, 2024 in the 600 block of Main Street in the city.

The Mid Hudson News article reported from the scene on May 12 can be viewed here.

Poughkeepsie Police Sergeant Terrance Bream said Ince was arrested by City of Poughkeepsie police officers, assisted by state troopers and Dutchess County Drug Task Force agents.

Ince, a four-time convicted felon, was charged with assault for the May 12 incident and two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was found in possession of a large amount of drugs Wednesday. He was arraigned at Police Headquarters and booked into the Dutchess County Jail without bail.

On Sunday, May 12, at approximately 10 p.m., Poughkeepsie officers conducted a traffic stop on a red Lexus G350 with North Carolina license plates. The car pulled into a parking space, then backed into two marked police SUVs that were carrying out the check. The driver then rammed the rear passenger door, hitting one of the officers. The contact sent the officer into the air and he lost consciousness when he landed on the sidewalk. The police SUV hit the other officer's foot when the suspect crashed into him.

The driver fled with his passenger and abandoned the Lexus near Winnikee Avenue and Cottage Street, leading to an unsuccessful manhunt.

The North Carolina license plates did not belong to the Lexus and the vehicle identification number indicates the vehicle belongs to a resident of Shirley, New York, on Long Island. The registered owner is not believed to be the driver who injured officers Sunday evening.

Both officers, Detective Sergeant Sean Fitzgerald said, following the crash, were treated at MidHudson Regional Hospital for their injuries and both were unable to return to work. One of the officers has since returned to duty while the other remains out of work due to injuries sustained during the attack.

The night of the incident, the city police department was understaffed, leading to a request for and provision of assistance to the Poughkeepsie city police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
