Crime Stoppers releases video of possible suspects in fatal shooting west of downtown

San Antonio police said Miguel Angel Marquez, 33, was shot and killed outside his home on South San Marcos Street on May 19.

SAN ANTONIO — Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the murder case of a 33-year-old San Antonio father.

San Antonio police said Miguel Angel Marquez, 33, was shot and killed outside his home on South San Marcos Street on May 19.

Investigators released video showing two suspects they believe are connected to the shooting.

The victim's mother, Maria Rivera, spoke with KENS 5 Wednesday in hopes the video will lead to arrests. She was a few meters from her son when he was killed.

“He showed me so much love,” Rivera said.

She said that around 10:45 p.m. that evening, she heard her son coming home. She said he went inside for a few minutes before leaving. After about 10 minutes, she heard a gunshot and then her son screaming.

“I heard his voice,” Rivera said. “Help me, mom. Help me.”

Marquez was able to get back into the house, police said.

“I found him in the kitchen,” Rivera said. “He had his arms outstretched like that to hold me.”

Marquez's 11-year-old son, who is named after him, said he is trying his best to understand what happened.

“He was a good father and I miss him a lot,” his son said.

This family said they did not recognize the men in the video released by Crime Stoppers.

“I want to know who did it and why they did it,” Rivera said.

Crime Stoppers can pay up to $5,000 for information that leads to criminal arrests in this crime.

To be eligible for a reward, tips must be submitted directly to Crime Stoppers.
