CRETE TUSCARADE UPDATE: 7 Victims – 3 Still Hospitalized – Suspect Dead | KLIN

Several law enforcement agencies held a news conference Saturday afternoon to provide an update on Friday's shooting in Crete, Nebraska.

Nebraska State Patrol Superintendent Col. John Bolduc, Crete Police Chief Gary Young, Saline County Sheriff Alan Moore and Saline County Prosecutor David Solheim provided information on the victims as well as the identity of the suspect involved in the shooting.

Friday, the Saline County 911 Center received multiple calls regarding an active shooter situation in the 1200 block of Crestline Drive in Crete. Arriving officers immediately worked to evacuate the victims. During those efforts, they also heard a single gunshot coming from a home across the street.

The evacuation of victims from the rear of the residence included 3 adults and 3 children who were transported to different hospitals. A seventh victim sought medical attention Friday evening and was examined and released. As of Saturday afternoon, one person remains hospitalized at Bryan West in Lincoln and 2 victims are being treated at Children's Hospital of Omaha. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

NSP Superintendent John Bolduc confirmed that members of the NSP Swat team entered a home at 1810 Parkland Street around 6:40 p.m. and found the suspect, Billy Booth, 74, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Crete Police Chief Gary Young confirmed his department had several incidents with Booth and the victims dating back to 2021. The complaints included driving behavior, improper parking, nuisance property and other issues quality of life. Young said, “There was only one report from the victims that the suspect gave them the finger, told them to go home or go back to where they came from, to speak English. » Young said the family refused to refer the incident for prosecution.
