Craig Monroe faces sexual misconduct allegations

Detroit Tigers play-by-play announcer Craig Monroe is facing controversy following serious allegations made on social media. A woman accused Monroe of sexual misconduct during his time with the Port Charlotte Rangers minor league team in the late 1990s. The allegations suggest the behavior continued after Monroe moved to Detroit years later.

The allegations suggest Monroe's behavior continued after he moved to Detroit. Since early June, he has not appeared on Bally Sports Detroit broadcasts due to the allegations. The Tigers and Florida police are currently investigating.

Bally Sports Detroit said Craig Monroe is no longer broadcasting and will not return for some time, ClickOnDetroit reported.

In response, Monroe, through his attorney, expressed his willingness to cooperate fully with the police to clear his name, firmly denying the accusations. He stated that the accusations were false and damaging, proving that he was sure of his innocence and wanted a clear investigation.

Bally Sports Detroit said in a statement: “Monroe has not been on the air and will continue to do so indefinitely. We will have no further comment and all questions should be directed to Monroe.”

Additionally, Monroe is not appearing on the shows and people are wondering if he will stay with Bally Sports Detroit.

Monroe himself responded to the allegations through his attorney, stating: “Craig Monroe takes allegations of this nature very seriously and would never commit or tolerate such despicable conduct.”
