CPD investigating Thursday shooting at Donnelly Field that left two injured | News

The Cambridge Police Department is currently investigating a shooting at Donnelly Field, where two individuals were shot and killed Thursday evening.

CPD found the two victims after responding to multiple calls about shots fired at the sports field in the Wellington-Harrington neighborhood. The two Cambridge residents – a 22-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man – are currently being treated at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Massachusetts State Police and CPD were at the scene of the shooting Thursday evening. According to a Friday morning press release, the incident is currently under investigation as the department increases its presence in the area.

“Cambridge Police believe this is an isolated event, but we will be staffing the area with additional patrols out of an abundance of caution,” the statement said.

The Cambridge Day reported that a group of suspects were seen fleeing the area after Thursday night's shooting. Although CPD has not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting, the department encourages Cambridge residents to come forward with any information related to the incident.

This incident is the second shooting incident reported to the department this year. The first incident – which took place on January 25 – was reported in West Cambridge, at Danehy Park.
