Court seeks to revoke Gilbert teen's probation following new arrests

PHOENIX — Deleon Haynes, the first adult convicted in connection with the East Valley's recent spate of youth violence, was re-arrested Friday by Gilbert police for his role in two criminal investigations.

Haynes, 19, was sentenced to three years of supervised probation on June 3 for his part in a gang assault at a Gilbert In-N-Out Burger last August. A Maricopa County Superior Court spokesperson said KTAR News 92.3 FM The Department of Adult Probation filed a motion to revoke Haynes' probation following the new allegations.

Gilbert police said Haynes illegally entered a home on June 12 from which he had been evicted two weeks earlier. Inside the house, he allegedly argued with a minor in the house with whom he previously had a relationship.

In another incident Friday, a juvenile told Gilbert police that Haynes allegedly threatened them and a family member. Records show the threats were made virtually.

After being processed at the Gilbert-Chandler Unified Detention Center, Haynes is being held on bond by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Haynes is the second East Valley youth violence suspect to be rearrested following his conviction. Jacob Pennington, 20, was arrested on alcoholism charges hours after receiving the same three-year probation sentence on June 13.

Maricopa County Prosecutor Rachel Mitchell said Thursday that her office filed a motion to revoke Pennington's probation.
