Court records detail 4 suspects' alleged roles in deadly September shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Newly filed court records involving a 21-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy detail the roles of four suspects accused in a deadly gang-related shooting in September.

Corrion Parks and Lamont Martin, who is being tried as an adult, were arrested Wednesday evening and each charged with murder, attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon and criminal gang activity. They are the third and fourth people to be charged in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ayvion Parker.

Martin, also known as Lamont Recht, was charged as an adult.

Two other suspects, Terrance Sanders, 18, and Christopher Recht, 19, were arrested in January and face the same charges as the two men arrested Wednesday. Court records from the Sanders and Recht cases indicate the shooting, which also seriously injured Parker's younger brother, was the culmination of a years-long feud and active rap conflict between the BMG and BSG gangs and their members.

Parks, Martin, Sanders and Recht are known members of the BSG gang, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Fort Wayne police Detective Aaron Johnson. Parker was a member of the BMG gang and his younger brother is known to police as a member of the TYB gang.

Parks and Martin were previously listed as witnesses to the shooting in court filings in the Sanders and Recht cases, according to court records. Text messages between the suspects and witnesses show their alleged connections to the shooting, documenting conversations about plans leading up to the shooting.

On Sept. 12, just 30 minutes after police were dispatched to the scene of the shooting, Sanders allegedly texted Recht and Martin's older brother “the doctors are heading that way,” according to court documents. It was followed by “NHG,” which means “nigga, he’s gone.”

During an interview with Parker's younger brother, police learned more about what the boy had seen during the shooting, according to court records. He told police four people were shooting at him and Parker.

They were walking out of an apartment at the Villa Capri apartment complex toward the parking lot when the first shots were fired, according to court documents. The victims were surrounded by armed men.

“They were waiting on the side of the building for us to come out so they could trap us,” the boy told police.

The surviving victim identified the four suspects through photos as the gunmen who shot him in the leg and killed his brother.

Police also found evidence that the shooting was linked to rapping between the suspects' and Parker's gangs, according to court records. A day before the shooting, Parker's gang posted a video on YouTube that appeared to mock Sanders by calling him “Scarface,” referring to a scar on his face from a previous shooting.

A song created weeks after the shooting and found on Recht's phone contained lyrics referring to Parker being shot in retaliation for his role in the BMG video, according to court documents. The song, which has since been uploaded to YouTube, also references Parker's discovery outside an apartment associated with his gang.

Part of the song seems to recount the whole incident.

“It's a showdown, a **** tried to hit his block and it's going down, damn we got more turns,” the lyrics say. “My homie shot the little nigga hit the ground and it didn't make a sound, you know, I jump up, try to burn the nigga, I faced you, little bro.,l 's been peddled, but this little bastard won't die.

Recht and Sanders are expected to go to trial in September.
