Corruption allegations swirl against Polish opposition party – POLITICO

Ziobro did not have easy access to media and political money, as this was controlled by PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński. However, the Ministry of Justice operated a special fund that distributed hundreds of millions of zlotys per year to help crime victims.

Last week, the fund's former director, Tomasz Mraz, held a press conference, claiming that the fund distributed money based on rigged competitions personally supervised by Ziobro.

According to Mraz, “most of the competitions organized by the Justice Fund were organized 'incorrectly' and the main decision maker was Ziobro.

The whistleblower added that “politicians in sovereign Poland… had limits placed on the funds from the Justice Fund that they could spend for political purposes.”

He also said that over two years he recorded more than 50 hours of conversations with officials, but not with Ziobro.

Sovereign Poland issued a press release denouncing Mraz and calling his testimony “a pile of nonsense and manipulation used to brutally attack the politicians of sovereign Poland”, adding: “There were no irregularities in the use of public funds. And the Justice Fund provided the Poles with ten times more aid than under the Tusk government.”
