Corral Fire near Lawrence National Lab burns 4,940 acres: Cal Fire

A fire that broke out Saturday near Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Site 300, southwest of Tracy, quickly grew to about 5,000 acres, prompting evacuations in the area.

The Corral Fire was reported at 2:39 p.m. off West Corral Hollow in Alameda and San Joaquin counties and has consumed 4,940 acres.

As of 5:33 p.m., firefighters had constructed containment lines around 40 percent of the fire, but that figure dropped to 10 percent in the most recent report released by the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. California at 8 p.m.

Just before 6:30 p.m., the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services said residents near Corral Hollow Road should leave immediately. This includes the area east of Interstate 580, between Corral Hollow Road and south of Tracy Boulevard.

Those who live south of Tracy Boulevard should also be prepared to evacuate, the agency said.
