Coroner identifies driver following fatal upstate collision

The South Carolina Highway Patrol confirms one death in a collision north of Pacolet, South Carolina. Police say the crash involved two vehicles on Highway 176 near Southgate Road, north of Pacolet, at 11:40 a.m. Friday. The two vehicles involved were a 2023 Yongsu moped and a Chevrolet pickup truck, according to SCHP. According to the Highway Patrol, both vehicles were heading east on Highway 176, and the Chevrolet pickup struck the rear of the moped, causing the driver to spill onto the road and the driver of the pickup to die. was not injured. The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office identified the driver of the moped as Kenneth Reed, 65, of Spartanburg. No further information has been released.
