A North Carolina man who disappeared with his estranged wife is accused of killing her and then himself after police discovered their bodies in the woods with gunshot wounds Friday.

The tragic discovery comes after an Ashanti Alert was issued Thursday for Cynthia Gobble, 60, and her 59-year-old husband, Greg Goble, who was identified as a suspect in her disappearance.

The Davie County Sheriff's Office had been searching for the Gobbles ever since and officers eventually located the two bodies in a wooded area of ​​Iredell County.

Officials said the two were going through a divorce at the time of their disappearance, with evidence suggesting Greg killed his wife before turning the gun on himself, WFMY News reported.

After conducting a welfare check on Cynthia at her Mocksville home around 10 p.m. Thursday, police found the woman missing — but her purse, wallet and insulin had been left behind.

The search also showed that Cynthia was forced to leave her home against her will, investigators said.

Greg has been called a person of interest in the disappearance, but authorities and family members have been unable to locate the man or his white food truck, which investigators believe he was driving the day the man disappeared. couple.

An Ashanti Alert – similar to an Amber Alert but aimed at adults – was issued for Cynthia and Greg was identified as a suspect in her disappearance.

The alert said there was evidence of “physical endangerment, kidnapping or abduction.”

On Friday, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office confirmed they found Greg's food truck in a wooded area near Sheffield Road, with two bodies located nearby.

Investigators confirmed the bodies belonged to Cynthia and Greg and said the murder weapon was also found nearby.

“Detectives from Iredell and Davie counties are currently examining the scene,” the local sheriff’s office said in a statement. “We do not suspect anyone else to be involved in this incident and there is no ongoing danger to members of the public.”
