Cops raid home after alarming social media posts, find terrifying items

Knives, swords and a crossbow were among the significant items found by police during a raid in Saddleworth following a series of social media posts. Greater Manchester Police say they have seen a series of images of weapons posted online.

As a result, police raided a property on Huddersfield Road, Delph, yesterday (May 31). Officers found a crossbow, gas aerial weapons, body armor, knives and swords.

Police also seized cannabis plants and harvested cannabis. A 56-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class C drugs.

Detective Superintendent Phil Hutchinson, from GMP’s Oldham district, said: “Following a proactive operation this morning we seized several weapons and other items of interest. We know that recoveries of this nature can be distressing for members of the community, but I want to reassure you that we believe this is an isolated case and that there is no risk to the community. General public.

“We have worked and continue to work tirelessly to target people who we believe pose a danger to our communities. There is no justifiable reason for anyone to want to possess these types of weapons and we are committed to taking action against anyone who does. »
