Coppell inaugurates Fire Station No. 5

Construction on the new Coppell Fire Station is officially underway, according to a city news release.

A groundbreaking ceremony on June 4 marked the start of construction on the nearly $12.5 million project. Coppell Fire Station No. 5 will be located at 157 S. Moore Road.

The overview

The city's fifth fire station is expected to meet the growing demands of the Coppell Fire Department due to its growth and development.

“The addition of Fire Station No. 5 will help the Coppell Fire Department protect the lives and property of residents while maintaining the service standards you expect,” said Fire Chief Kevin Richardson in the press release.

A little context

The site previously housed Fire Station No. 2, which later became the home of the Coppell Theater. Construction crews completed demolition of the existing building in late May, according to the news release.

The Coppell City Council previously authorized spending of more than $600,000 for generators and other items expected to have long delivery times.

Looking forward

Construction of the fire station is expected to continue through next spring, according to the press release, and the new fire station will become operational by next summer.
