Convicted child molester sentenced to 281 years in prison in Arizona

PHOENIX — A Phoenix man was sentenced to 281 years in prison for sexually abusing five children, authorities announced Wednesday.

Gerardo Estrada, 34, must serve his 281-year sentence every day without the possibility of release.

According to authorities, the victims were aged between 5 and 16 when the attacks began.

“I'm at a loss for words to explain what [he] done to me and my [sibling]. No prison sentence can undo the harm you have caused,” one of the victims said during sentencing.

What is Estrada accused of?

A jury found Estrada guilty of the following charges:

  • Seven counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
  • Two counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
  • Three counts of assault on a child.
  • One count of sexual abuse.

“These young victims suffered horrific abuse from a very young age. It is truly an act of courage for everyone to muster the strength to report these crimes,” Maricopa County Prosecutor Rachel Mitchell said in a press release. “They will live with the emotional scars and painful memories for the rest of their lives. For these reasons and many others, this criminal deserves the sentence imposed by the court.
