Conspiracy theorists hamper search for missing British teenager in Tenerife

Ofelia Medina Hernandez, a resident near Masca, revealed that she saw a teenager, believed to be Mr. Slater, walking the wrong way along a winding mountain road shortly after he stopped in front of her house to ask her for bus times.

She was quoted as saying: “He was alone when I first saw him shortly before eight o'clock on Monday morning. He asked me what time the bus was coming, but he didn't tell me where he wanted to go.

“I told him it happened at ten o'clock and as he obviously didn't understand, he asked me the same question again and this time I raised my finger to indicate that it was ten o'clock.

“Then I returned home briefly before starting to drive to the town of Buenavista del Norte and that's when I saw him again, but this time walking on the road out of the village on the same side as me.

“It must have been at 8.10am at the latest and it was about a kilometer from where I had seen him at home. He was alone and he was walking quite quickly. I walked past him and that was the last time I saw him. I gave this information to the police and I don't know anymore.

Ms Law said she spoke to the two men he filmed for a Snapchat post in the north of the island, who claimed Mr Slater had wanted to return home but had refused the offer of a elevator.

Mr Slater was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with shorts, trainers and a black bag.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man missing in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities. »
