Initial court appearances will be Tuesday afternoon for the two individuals arrested following a stabbing incident in Emporia Saturday evening.

Raena Grana, 18, and Gary Grana, 45, both of Emporia, will appear before Judge Doug Jones at 1:15 p.m. Raena Grana faces single charges of aggravated battery and criminal interference with law enforcement, while Gary Grana was charged with battery and disorderly conduct.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred early Saturday evening in the 11:00 block of Congress. According to Emporia Police Captain Lisa Hayes, officers responded to the apartment complex at 1101 Congress following multiple reports of a stabbing.

After arriving, police discovered that there was a “neighborhood dispute involving several people” and that one victim, an unnamed man, had received a non-life-threatening stab wound to the back. The individual was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and possible treatment.
